About This Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Automation Specialist to join our team at Centurion Mine. This role is integral to developing and maintaining the plant control systems (PCS) and automation infrastructure, ensuring operational efficiency and reliability as the site moves through the establishment phase.

As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automation and control systems, implementing PCS standards, and driving change management processes. This is a hands-on role with a project development focus, requiring strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to fault finding and system improvements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement standards for plant control systems (PCS) and automation processes.
  • Manage and maintain PCS, including SCADA and PLC programming, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
  • Supervise contractors and site personnel involved in control systems and automation projects.
  • Install, program, and maintain Rockwell Automation systems.
  • Troubleshoot and rectify faults within data networks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve operational targets.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and safety regulations.
Requirements
  • Educational background in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Electrical Trade with strong PLC programming experience.
  • Experience in Rockwell Automation software, including Allen-Bradley PLCs.
  • Strong capability in SCADA system development, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience with automation and control system projects in heavy industrial environments.
  • Exposure to underground coal mining is highly desirable.
