About Intensive Care:

The ICU at Austin Health is a Level 3 tertiary unit offering multidisciplinary support to patients with various medical needs. We provide critical care services, including liver transplant, spinal injuries, neurosurgery, cardiothoracic, and liver failure support. Our Critical Care Outreach team also offers ward-based support, and we have a strong research and teaching culture.

About the program/role:

The Intensive Care Unit Transition to Specialty Practice Program is designed for nurses transitioning into intensive care environments. The program provides study days, experiential learning opportunities, and support from our Clinical Education team. This fixed-term position is ideal for junior nurses with recent acute medical and surgical nursing experience.

As an ICU Transition to Specialty Practice Nurse, you will assist with medical procedures, accurately document patient findings, plan and implement holistic patient care, complete program requirements, and gain ongoing roles at Austin Health after completing the program.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse with the NMBA
  • Recent acute nursing experience
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Patient-centered approach to care delivery
