Job Description:

The role of Groups Facilitator is a key position in empowering participants with a disability from diverse cultural backgrounds. The facilitator is responsible for organizing capacity building activities that promote social inclusion and provide support, information, linkages, and referral to eligible participants.

Duties:

  • Plan and execute ongoing activities to promote social inclusion and deliver support services to participants.
  • Attend regular training sessions and reviews of Group activities with the Groups Coordinator.
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss progress and objectives.
  • Submit a monthly report of activities as directed by the Groups Coordinator.
  • Develop and deliver capacity building workshops within Groups based on needs, abilities, and interests.
  • Work closely with the coordinator to organize and implement a regular activity-based program.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance lists, feedback forms, and budget tracking.
  • Facilitate information sessions and skill-building workshops for participants.
  • Promote the group and recruit new members through outreach and community engagement.
  • Achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) agreed with the Groups Coordinator to ensure timely achievement of targets.
  • Support carers and care recipients to address issues of isolation and access relevant support services.
  • Link carers' needs with local broader services and groups, and opportunities for development.
  • Provide education, skilling, and support to carers of people with disability and frailty.
  • Develop informal support networks for carers and care recipients, and other eligible participants.
  • Enhance group members' knowledge of disability, recreation/mental health, and support services.
  • Performance will be measured against criteria including client feedback, client numbers, accurate data submission, maintenance of client records, prompt issue resolution, language fluency, programme planning, data collection, record maintenance, experience in establishing and maintaining community groups, IT skills, time management, driver's licence, previous experience working with carers, disability, HACC services, budget preparation, First Aid Certificate, WWCC Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check, and Covid-19 vaccination status.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Fluency in spoken, reading, and writing Karenni language.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to plan, develop, and deliver programs, and maintain accurate records.
  • Experience in working with diverse cultural communities, disability, and mental health.
  • Knowledge of HACC and other local services.
  • Competent in MS Office products.
  • Current Working With Children (WWC) Check.
  • Current Australian driver's licence.
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
  • Covid-19 vaccination status.
