About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Building Control Specialist to join our team at Professional Technical Ltd. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with building regulations and associated legislation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Appraise plans for compliance with building regulations and associated legislation
  • Conduct inspections of works and maintain detailed records of all inspections undertaken
  • Issue initial notices, plan certificates, amendments notices, and final certificates
  • Ensure all relevant inspections have been carried out, appropriate certification submitted, and any defects/non-conformities addressed before final certification is issued
  • Maintain project records in our database
  • Adhere to QMS procedures
  • Deliver consistent service and build effective client relationships
  • Provide mentoring and support to trainee and assistant building control surveyors
  • Participate in external meetings with clients as required
  • Perform additional duties as required

Requirements

  • Chartered membership of an appropriate professional institution or working towards (i.e. RICS, CABE, CIOB)
  • Registered as level 2 RBI or higher status
  • Experience in the construction industry
  • Experience of plan appraisal and inspection of residential developments within Building Control
  • Able to demonstrate a competent understanding and necessary ability, knowledge, and skill to complete the role successfully
  • Client-facing and relationship-building skills
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with appropriate interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively manage a varied workload
  • Able to work with minimal supervision, in line with company policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of relevant standards/legislation and environmental issues
  • IT literate with the ability to use a range of software programmes
