Lead Electrical Designer

Join our team of electrical engineers to take the technical lead on secondary systems for substation and transmission projects (132kV+).

This role requires a strong working knowledge of AS/NZS 61850 and relevant HV standards, as well as expertise in protection relays, control systems, and SCADA.

As a senior electrical engineer, you will be responsible for leading the preparation of protection and secondary systems design packages, developing and reviewing schematics, logic diagrams, and functional specs, and ensuring compliance with industry standards, QA, and client expectations.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in secondary systems design for HV & EHV Substations, strong communication and documentation skills, and tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering.

  • Lead the technical development of secondary systems designs for HV & EHV Substations;
  • Develop and review design specifications, including schematics, logic diagrams, and functional specs;
  • Coordinate with primary, civil, and drafting teams to ensure design alignment;
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, QA, and client expectations;
  • Support project delivery from early design through testing and commissioning;

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in secondary systems design for HV & EHV Substations;
  • Expertise in protection relays, control systems, and SCADA;
  • Strong working knowledge of AS/NZS 61850 and relevant HV standards;
  • Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering;
  • CPEng (or working towards) and EA membership preferred;
