Occupational Therapist Opportunity

The Rural Locum Assistance Program plays a key role in supporting the Australian Government's rural workforce capacity agenda by delivering essential healthcare services to rural and remote regions.

As part of this initiative, we are seeking experienced and registered Occupational Therapists for short-term placements in rural and remote communities across Australia.

This is an opportunity to contribute to improving access to allied health services in underserved areas while gaining unique and rewarding professional experiences.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assessing clients' functional capacity and developing individualised treatment plans
  • Delivering therapy that supports clients to achieve greater independence in their daily lives
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support continuity of care
  • Providing assessments and interventions in diverse environments, including aged care facilities, hospitals, and community settings
  • Educating clients, families, and support workers on therapeutic strategies
  • Documenting clinical findings accurately and maintaining confidentiality
Essential Criteria:
  • Unrestricted registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as an Occupational Therapist
  • A minimum of two (2) years' full-time equivalent clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist
  • Evidence of at least 250 hours of relevant clinical practice within the past 12 months
  • Current Basic Life Support or Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation certification with a practical assessment component
