About This Opportunity

The University of Queensland is seeking a highly skilled and experienced academic leader to join our team as the Deputy Head of Learning Community. This is a key role that will contribute to the establishment and development of the Learning Community environment, promoting inclusivity and a sense of belonging for students and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Curriculum Development: Develop and deliver courses, engage in curriculum design, coordinate courses, assess students, provide academic counselling, and adhere to university teaching rules.
  • Research and Scholarship: Establish a research program, collaborate on research projects, seek and manage research funding, publish in reputable journals, utilize best practice research methodologies, and participate in project discussions.
  • Supervision and Researcher Development: Supervise students, recruit and manage employees, provide performance feedback and training, resolve conflicts, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits.
  • Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values.
About You
  • Medical qualification and eligibility for registration as a medical practitioner in Australia, with a specialist or general practice qualification permitting specialist registration with AHPRA.
  • An established profile in clinical teaching.
  • Expert knowledge and experience in a general or specialist clinical capacity, including evidence of knowledge of current education best practice.
  • Experience in undertaking or facilitating research or scholarship of teaching and learning.
  • A record of contribution to the supervision of medical students.
  • Ability to establish effective relationships and to represent and promote the UQRCS within hospitals and health care facilities at a university level and in the wider community including professional bodies.
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, colleagues and the wider community.
  • A commitment to and an understanding of the issues surrounding, living and working in a rural and/or regional area.
