The Northern Adelaide Local Health Network is seeking skilled Clinical Coders and Advanced Clinical Coders to join the Health Information Management Service (HIMS) team.
Key Responsibilities- Allocate accurate and comprehensive ICD-10-AM codes to inpatient episodes of care, ensuring timely and detailed abstraction and classification.
- Provide coding and casemix advice to clinicians, ensuring accurate recording of clinical and morbidity data.
- Support medical and other clinical personnel in ensuring correct and complete allocation of ICD-10-AM diagnoses and procedure codes.
- Ensure ethical documentation queries are completed, and provide advice and support to clinical staff to improve clinical documentation.
- Maintain medical record procedures in relation to the coding unit.
- Access patient information via Sunrise or associated computer systems to ensure accurate coding of inpatient data.
- Demonstrate competence in APC data collection process, definitions, and procedures.
- Demonstrate competence in Activity Based Funding and DRG principles.
- Satisfactory completion of the Health Information Management Association of Australia (HIMAA) coding course.
- Demonstrated competency in ICD-10-AM coding.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and competing demands.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
