A Dairy Farm is seeking a skilled Stockperson to join their team. We are looking for someone with expertise in milk production and animal care.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning all aspects of the milk production process, including management and coordination of milking shed routines. This includes coordinating and implementing reproductive programs, artificial insemination, herd fertility management, detection of estrous and pregnancy, and assisting in controlled breeding experiments to develop improved livestock strains.

You will also be responsible for implementing calving procedures, including physical assessments to minimize the incidence of stillbirths or injuries to cow or calf. Additionally, you will plan and manage pastures and crops for livestock production, develop livestock feeding plans, and analyse produce to set and maintain standards of quality.

You will supervise animal health programs, handle sick or injured animals, and maintain an optimal environment for the wellbeing of livestock consistent with the Australian Animal Welfare Standards and Guidelines – Cattle.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • AQF Certificate III in Agriculture/Dairy Production (or higher equivalent)
  • Three (3) years of recent and relevant work experience

  • Operate milking plant and equipment safely and efficiently
  • Supervise work routines and staff performance of less experienced employees
  • Implement and monitor quality assurance procedures
  • Transport, handle, and store chemicals; prepare and apply chemicals
  • Identify and report equipment not operating normally
  • Maintain records to ensure accurate information for stock and inventory control
  • Ensure food safety regulatory requirements are met
  • Contribute to and implement OHS requirements
  • Participate in enterprise/industry training sessions and workshops as required
