Job Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Staff Specialist to join our team in Laboratory Haematology at Westmead Hospital.


The successful applicant will be responsible for providing high-quality diagnostic, consultative, procedural and on-call specialty services in Laboratory Haematology. They will also participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities commensurate with the Staff Specialists (State) Award.


Key Responsibilities
  • Providing high-quality patient care and management of complex haematological cases.
  • Developing and implementing quality assurance programs to ensure compliance with NATA accreditation standards.
  • Participating in ongoing professional development and staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in laboratory haematology.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Requirements
  • Current registration or eligibility for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia in Laboratory Haematology or other specialist recognition as provided under the Staff Specialists (State) Award.
  • Demonstrated commitment to basic, applied or clinical research and/or medical education and staff training.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated personal qualities including effective communication skills, motivation, initiative, time management and commitment to professional development.
