Primary Care Specialist

As a Medical Officer, you will play a vital role in providing primary medical care to patients in accordance with professional standards and legislation.

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team working towards the shared purpose of achieving and maintaining the health and wellbeing of Defence members.

Your responsibilities will include assessing Defence personnel for fitness for duty and providing care that supports their health and wellbeing pre and post deployments.

You will also provide medical technical advice to Senior Medical Officers and uniformed colleagues.

Your work may involve providing services in an outpatient setting or inpatient care setting within a ward.

About ADF Health Services

In partnership with healthcare providers, our ADF Health Services team provides integrated healthcare services to Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel across Australia.

This includes providing defence-ready clinical and support staff across 45+ on-base locations, ensuring that ADF personnel have access to quality on-site medical care.

To Be Successful In This Role You'll Have:
  • The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour.
  • Current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Medical Practitioner, General in Australia with the relevant authority.
  • Specialised training and qualifications in primary care medicine.
  • Minimum of 2 years full-time post graduate experience in a general practice setting within the last 5 years (or part-time equivalent).
  • Recent participation in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities in accordance with the relevant authority.
  • Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
