Job Opportunity:

We are seeking a skilled AUV Support Technician to join our team in Sydney, Australia. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for testing, operating and supporting Autonomous Underwater Vessels (AUVs) in the field.

Key duties will include:

  • Working with a dynamic team of engineers, specialists and technicians to test and operate AUVs and associated systems in the field environment
  • Preparing for field deployments by identifying, sourcing and kitting AUV test and support equipment
  • Conducting daily AUV inspections and system checks before and after operations
  • Coordinating AUV launch and recovery evolutions, executing day-to-day test operations, and writing daily operations and test reports
  • Performing maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and upgrades of AUVs in the field, operating the maintenance management system
  • Supporting development, review and trials of Standard Operating Procedures and user documentation for all aspects of AUV operations
  • Assisting with the preparation of risk assessments for test and related operations, identifying and implementing mitigations
  • Providing constructive feedback to design and manufacturing teams including software user interface design

You will be required to spend at least 60% of your time in the field, supporting nearshore and offshore testing.

Requirements for success in this role include:

  • 4+ years experience in mechanical or electrical trades (or production-oriented robotics)
  • Maritime trade background is desirable as well as subsea experience or autonomous vehicle operation (any domain)
  • Proficiency in interpreting technical documentation (mechanical drawings, work instructions, equipment schematics, electrical diagrams, etc.)
  • Experience performing functional checkouts and tests, and diagnosing/escalating issues discovered during these processes
  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented
  • Extreme comfort being offshore for extended periods of time
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • A sincere commitment to a positive, inclusive, and collaborative culture
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a NV2 Security Clearance
