We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to contribute to Xero's Product SRE strategy. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of human factors, safety science, and resilience engineering.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to daily deliverables of product SRE teams, focusing on automation first and continuous quality delivery.
- B Foster long-term relationships with product engineering teams to ensure system reliability and continuous improvement.
- Establish and monitor quality standards for SRE teams, reporting regularly on their adherence.
- Support ongoing training across the business to incorporate reliability requirements into product designs.
- Participate in a 24/7 global on-call roster, focusing on incident response and remediation.
Your Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven software engineering and hands-on SRE background, with experience leading initiatives in highly technical teams.
- Experience mentoring engineers in fast-growing companies.
- A passion for delivering high-quality customer experiences, prioritizing customer needs and understanding their requirements.
- Deep technical knowledge of cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their practices, particularly high-growth, high-availability SaaS-based transactional systems.
- Proficiency in one or more object-oriented programming languages (C#, JavaScript, Java, Python etc) or experience with infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Terraform, Cloudformation).
- Familiarity with observability tooling to monitor distributed systems.
