
Nursing Team Lead

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Veterinary Nurse to take on a leadership position in our veterinary team. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, be able to manage their time effectively, and possess a strong attention to detail.
The role involves overseeing daily operations, guiding and supporting the nursing team, and maintaining high standards of animal care. Key responsibilities include:
- Team Guidance: Provide support and guidance to the nursing team to ensure they thrive in their roles.
- Policies and Procedures: Assist with implementing and complying with new and existing policies and procedures.
- Consult Support: Support veterinarians with routine health examinations and medical cases.
- Nursing Support: Assist with radiography, surgical procedures, patient anesthesia, post-operative procedures, and pathology procedures.
- Inpatient Care: Monitor hospitalized animals, communicate with the team, and maintain accurate records.
- Schedule Management: Prepare and implement surgery and consult schedules.
- Patient Files: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient files, including health, treatment, and patient information.
- Processes: Ensure compliance with AWLQ policy and procedure, as well as state and federal legislation.
- Recruitment and Development: Assist with recruitment, training, and development of the nursing team and volunteers.
- Equipment Maintenance: Schedule and manage veterinary equipment maintenance.
- Stock Control: Manage stock levels and order supplies as required.

Additional requirements include:
- Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or recognized equivalent.
- 5+ years' vet nursing experience.
- Experience in a senior nurse or leadership position.
- Excellent animal care and handling skills.
- Experience in a busy and fast-paced work environment.
- Previous experience in a shelter/rescue environment is highly regarded.
