Job Title: Veterinary Nursing Team Lead - Surgery Department

We are seeking a seasoned veterinary nurse to lead our surgery team in a full-time capacity. This role is critical to the efficient operation of our surgical nursing and animal attendant team, focusing on positive leadership, procedure coordination, and collaboration across the hospital.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the nursing and animal attendant team within the surgery department, ensuring a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform probation and performance reviews for team members.
  • Recruit and onboard new team members within the surgery department.
  • Oversee staffing levels to ensure adequate coverage at all times.
  • Approve timesheets outside of normal rostered hours.
  • Manage annual leave and personal leave requests for the team.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development among team members.
Hands-on Nursing and Procedure Coordination:
  • Coordinate all surgical procedures, ensuring optimal resource utilization and adherence to best practices.
  • Manage daily operations, organizing workflows and collaborating with surgeons and other veterinary professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.
  • Provide ongoing training and mentoring to team members, working closely with them on the floor at least 2-3 days per week.
Reporting and Communication:
  • Maintain clear and effective communication channels with all team members.
  • Submit regular reports to senior management.
  • Participate in weekly meetings with senior management, providing updates on team performance, scheduling, and concerns.
Our Ideal Candidate:
  • A highly skilled and experienced veterinary nurse looking to take on a leadership role.
  • Prior experience in a specialty hospital setting is advantageous.
  • Strong organizational abilities, with a focus on efficiency and high standards of care.
  • A passion for surgery and inclusive patient care approaches.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • A willingness to learn and grow.
