Underwriting Manager, Casualty Portfolio
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Underwriting Manager to lead our Casualty portfolio in the Northern Region. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of underwriters, developing and executing the team's operating strategy, and achieving annual and long-term performance goals.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage a team of underwriters to achieve planned underwriting results for new and renewal business.
• Develop and execute the team's operating strategy to meet regional business needs.
• Lead and manage a team of underwriters to ensure compliance with all business policies and procedures.
• Identify requirements to meet the Region's business needs.
• Conduct account clearance procedures for multi-national risks as required.
• Ensure accurate entry of submissions, quotes, and bound policies and recording of underwriting information in Arch's underwriting systems.
• Collaborate with Regional Manager-Australia, and the Casualty Underwriting Manager on the development of annual and long-term operating plans.
• Perform product development and marketing activities including identifying producer relationships within assigned market to optimize best solutions for distribution; identify and suggest new and modified products; identify producers for business/marketing programs; and analyze producers and market opportunities.
Requirements and Qualifications:
• Demonstrated ability and experience in people management;
• Displayed ability of portfolio management;
• Displayed ability to manage growth of Region, Casualty portfolio;
• Displayed skills in planning and product development;
• Demonstrated ability to manage client relationship;
• Possessing technical and analytical skills;
• Knowledge reading & analyzing financial statements;
• Regulatory & compliance awareness;
• Problem solving, negotiation & decision making;
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills demonstrating an ability to teach, influence and motivate others;
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing;
• Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with all business units;
• Experience in using MS Office;
• Desire to learn and contribute as part of a team, with the ability to work autonomously when required;
• Enthusiastic, positive attitude;
• Ability to work under pressure of time;
• Experience working with multiple stakeholders and under deadlines;
• Ability to prioritize;
• Strong attention to detail;
