Medical Laboratory Assistant

Job Description:

This role is for a Medical Laboratory Assistant who will contribute to a customer-focused pathology collection service across inpatient, outpatient and home care settings. The successful candidate will provide a high-quality healthcare service to all referrers and consumers.

The Medical Laboratory Assistant will perform venepuncture and other duties related to specimen collection, data entry, processing, and delivery to sites for pathology investigations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect pathology specimens from patients in various locations.
  • Support laboratory operations and ensure the smooth running of the department.
  • Provide high-quality customer service to patients, carers, and clinical staff.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Certificate III in Pathology Collections or relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills and effective communication with patients, carers, and clinical staff.
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to resolve issues in the clinical environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities.
  • Familiarity with pathology terminology and willingness to learn collection, data entry, and specimen preparation practices.
