Family Therapy Role

The FFT-CW Family Therapist provides family therapy utilising the FFT-CW model to client families where a child/ren are referred to the program by a government department because of the child protection risk to the family and the imminent likelihood of an out-of-home care placement for the child/ren.

Minimising and managing risk in the family home is a paramount objective for the person responsible for this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver family therapy utilising the FFT-CW model to client families with high risk of out-of-home care placements;
  • Evaluate and develop treatment plans in collaboration with other professionals to support families at risk;
  • Accurately maintain records and participate in regular supervision sessions to ensure adherence to best practice guidelines.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Aboriginal Health Worker, Community Welfare Worker or Master of Counselling;
  • Postgraduate training in relevant child, adolescent and family clinical practice, family therapy and systemic thinking highly desirable;
  • Clinical experience working with families/adolescents highly desirable.

This is a Full Time 38 hours per week fixed term contract until March 31, 2026 opportunity within our Children, Youth and Families Program.

The position reports to the Family Therapist Supervisor.
