The role of a Forensic Medicine Social Worker involves providing a professional, evidence-based information and support service associated with the role outlined in the Model of Care document. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with families through some of their most challenging moments.

Job Description

As a Forensic Medicine Social Worker, you will be responsible for delivering compassionate, trauma-informed care to individuals and their families. This includes supporting grieving families through sudden loss, collaborating with Police, Pathologists, and other teams to ensure high-quality care, and exercising independent professional judgement to advocate for clients in complex situations.

  • Provide situational counselling and support in grief, loss, and trauma
  • Facilitate viewings and provide support to relatives and friends in the immediate hours following death
  • Advocate for clients in situations of a complex or critical nature
Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive care
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients and their families
  • Provide emotional support and guidance during difficult times
