We are seeking a highly skilled Public Health and Environmental Protection Specialist to join our team at Chandler Macleod.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for protecting and promoting public and environmental health through inspections, education, and ensuring regulatory compliance. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to make a real difference in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Regulate and ensure compliance with environmental health standards through proactive surveillance and auditing of commercial establishments.
  • Provide technical advice and mentoring to staff while working within the team to deliver targets and complete projects.
  • Carry out inspections and monitor compliance of business Environmental Health programs, including food premises, hairdressers, beauty salons, and other related activities.
  • Assess and provide comment on development applications pertaining to environmental health, including assessment of environmental impact statements and management plans.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Health or equivalent.
  • Current Class C Drivers Licence Experience.
  • Extensive Local Government experience in investigating, monitoring, and inspecting premises to ensure compliance with Public Health and Environmental standards.
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation associated with environmental health, including Local Government Act 1993, Food Act 2003, and Public Health Act 2010.
  • Demonstrated technical competence in assessing acoustic reports, air quality/odour reports, contamination reports, and waste water reports.

We offer a competitive salary package, including a base salary of approximately $85,000 - $105,000 per annum, depending on experience. You will also have access to ongoing training and professional development opportunities, as well as a supportive and dynamic work environment.
