Child Protection Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Child Protection Specialist to join our team, providing culturally sensitive services to families from diverse backgrounds.
The role involves responding to reports of children or young people who may be at risk, prioritizing their safety, welfare, and well-being above all else. You will work collaboratively with parents, family members, and other agencies to develop safety plans and conduct risk assessments.
Our ideal candidate will possess strong cross-cultural skills and expertise, with a focus on supporting Southeast Asian communities, particularly Thai and Filipino families. A working knowledge of these cultures and languages is highly desirable.
As a Child Protection Specialist, you will provide:
- Primary Casework: Working directly with families from your target community
- Secondary Casework: Supporting families from your target community through referrals
- Cultural Consultations: Offering guidance to colleagues working with families from your target community
- Language Support: Providing simple communication with families through language assistance programs

About You:
We are looking for someone with a passion for working with multicultural children, families, and communities. To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Social Science, Welfare, or a related field
- Experience working with vulnerable children, young people, and their families
- A valid Australian driver's license and willingness to drive
- A working with children clearance number
