About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Corporate Counsel to join our team in Newcastle. As a key member of our legal department, you will provide expert guidance on legal, regulatory, compliance, and risk management issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Negotiate, draft, and advise on a wide range of contracts, including those related to construction, approvals, process improvement, and renewables.
  • Provide commercial advice and communications with regulators in areas such as mining, environment, planning, and safety.
  • Participate in teams working on projects such as construction, approvals, process improvement, and renewables.
  • Assist with dispute resolution, including taking steps to minimise litigation risk.
  • Assist with drafting legal documents that protect the Company's position.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4-7 years' post-admission experience in contracts, commercial, construction, or environment law, energy, and resources preferably with some in-house experience.
  • Current practising certificate & Australian driver's licence.
  • Knowledge of NSW mining, environment, and planning laws (or the ability to quickly acquire same).
  • Ability to communicate and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Able to demonstrate strong commercial, legal, and risk acumen.
  • Established and confident negotiating skills.
