Project Leader

The role of the Project Leader is pivotal in delivering high-rise apartment and mixed-use projects successfully.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct daily project operations, overseeing trades and subcontractors to meet quality, safety, and program standards.
  • Develop and implement Incident Tracking Procedures (ITPs) with the Project Team and Safety Qualified Person (SQP).
  • Assess drawings, specifications, and scopes of work across all trade packages.
  • Collaborate in developing short- and medium-range project programs and ensure their implementation on-site.
  • Maintain accurate daily project records and defect lists, guaranteeing rectifications are completed.
  • Coordinate project activities to minimize disruptions and maximize productivity.
  • Support the Project Manager/EH&S team in preparing and reviewing project risk registers, project management plans, and emergency procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety briefings, toolbox talks, and ensure project inductions and worker competencies are documented.
  • Oversee compliance with statutory requirements, including signage, emergency response, first aid provisions, and project amenities.
  • Monitor Project Work Method Statements (PWMS) compliance, participate in audits and inspections, and report incidents/near misses.
  • Document non-conformances, close out corrective actions, and maintain plant/equipment records.
  • Ensure Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), hazardous materials, and electrical tool compliance.
  • Train and supervise project staff, identify development needs, and promote a culture of safety and performance.
  • Contribute to monthly project reporting, safety statistics, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Demonstrated experience as a Project Leader on high-rise apartment/multi-residential projects.
  • Trade qualification or tertiary degree in Building & Construction.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction methodologies, sequencing, WHS, and QA principles.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving, safety, and risk management.
