About This Position

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher Special Education to join our team at a local public school.

Position Information
  • The school is proudly located on Darug land in Western Sydney, within the Girraween network.
  • We currently have 268 students enrolled, including seven Support Classes: three Hearing Support, three Autism classes, and one Autism/IO class.
  • Over 70% of students identify having language backgrounds other than English.
  • Additionally, 5% of our students identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

We foster a strong, research-informed and data-driven culture with a clear focus on teaching, learning, wellbeing, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with additional learning needs including autism, intellectual disabilities and behavioural difficulties with proven abilities to implement strategies to meet their communication, sensory, social and challenging behavioural needs.
  • Proven ability to initiate and deliver differentiated learning experiences to students with complex learning needs, with a strong emphasis on improving literacy and numeracy outcomes through the use of individualised learning programs aligned with the Disability Standards for Education.
  • Evidence of outstanding flexible classroom management skills that demonstrates the implementation of whole school wellbeing programs focused on improving student engagement, creating a positive learning environment and promoting inclusive practices in all school settings.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to contribute to the whole school culture and work collaboratively to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents, external agencies and members of the wider community.

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this position.
