Senior Water Engineer Specialist

The significance of water to global health cannot be overstated.

As flood and drought events escalate in frequency and intensity, the water industry must fortify resilience and take a proactive stance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop engineering studies in hydrology, water systems, and drainage management.
  • Design innovative technical solutions for complex bridge, culvert, and stormwater network projects from conception to delivery.
  • Maintain expertise in surface water modeling tools such as RORB, TUFLOW, DRAINS, and HEC-RAS.
  • Apply 12D and DRAINS skills for detailed drainage and stormwater design.
  • Lead project teams by briefing, assigning, monitoring, reviewing, and providing feedback.
  • Deliver creative solutions balancing technical needs, community expectations, and client goals.
  • Collaborate with GHD's Global Storm and Surface Water Service Line for ongoing development and knowledge sharing.
  • Build professional networks to support technical and industry knowledge exchange.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure quality client experiences and repeat business.
  • Prepare high-quality project reports and digital deliverables to professional standards.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • 6-10+ years of experience in waterways, hydrology, or drainage engineering, including exposure to large infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency in 12D, DRAINS, RORB, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, and other relevant hydraulic and hydrologic modeling tools.
  • Strong experience in client-facing roles and multidisciplinary project coordination.
  • Working knowledge of relevant Australian standards, ARR 2019, Austroads guidelines, and local authority requirements.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality technical work within project timeframes and budgets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or working toward accreditation is highly regarded.
