Visionary Leader for Public Policy Innovation

The UNSW Australia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Director to drive the University's contribution to public policy innovation, excellence, and impact in Australia and beyond.
About the RoleThis pivotal position requires a visionary leader with an outstanding record of leadership and achievement in public policy. You will play a crucial role in shaping and launching the UNSW Public Policy Institute, elevating public policy education and research that equips leaders in various sectors with practical skills and expertise.
The successful candidate will be responsible for engaging across the University to deliver innovative educational and research programs, convening multidisciplinary collaborations with external partners to address public policy challenges, and drawing on their extensive networks to translate the work delivered by the Institute into real-world settings.
Key Responsibilities- Drive the development and implementation of the UNSW Public Policy Institute's strategic plan.
- Lead collaborative initiatives at-scale within and among complex organisations, leveraging your exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to convene and influence diverse groups.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, and community groups.
- Oversee the design and delivery of high-quality educational and research programs that meet the needs of public policy practitioners and academics.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training, and experience.
- An outstanding record of leadership and achievement in public policy, whether in public service settings, research, as an elected representative, or other domains.
- A nationally recognised profile and extensive networks, including across public policy practitioners.
- A demonstrated record of leading collaborative initiatives at-scale within and among complex organisations.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to convene and influence diverse groups.
UNSW Australia offers a competitive salary package, including:
- A generous salary of $120,000 - 150,000 per annum, depending on experience.
