About The Role:
This is a challenging and rewarding role that involves providing high-quality, evidence-based care to pediatric patients in the emergency department.
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to pediatric patients with complex medical conditions;
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes;
- Develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to each patient's needs;
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and emotional status;
- Administer medications, treatments, and other interventions as prescribed by physicians;
- Maintain accurate records of patient interactions, including vital signs, medical history, and treatment plans.
Responsibilities:
The Pediatric Emergency Nurse will be responsible for providing direct patient care, collaborating with healthcare teams, and participating in quality improvement initiatives. This includes:
- Performing triage and prioritizing patient care based on acuity;
- Assessing patients' physical and emotional status, identifying potential safety risks, and developing strategies to mitigate them;
- Providing education and support to patients and families, promoting self-management and adherence to treatment plans;
- Participating in peer review and performance improvement activities, contributing to the development of policies and procedures;
- Engaging in ongoing education and professional development, staying current with best practices and research findings in pediatric emergency nursing.
Requirements:
To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA);
- Emergency or pediatric nursing experience;
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and autonomously as needed;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with patients, families, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds;
- Flexibility and adaptability in responding to changing priorities and situations;
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze complex information and make informed decisions;
- Capacity to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information discreetly.
