Job Title

The Spot Trader and Operator plays a pivotal role in the Operations Control Centre, responsible for real-time dispatch, monitoring, analysis, and performance reporting of renewable energy assets.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Trading in the spot market for wind, solar, and gas assets.
  • Managing risk associated with volatility in the electricity markets.
  • Analysing competitor behaviour operating within traded markets.
  • Optimising the purchase and sale of fuel for peaking assets.
  • Understanding transmission constraints and minimising their impact.
  • Providing guidance on spot market dynamics and other market outcomes.
  • Liaising with network operators to address potential impacts on Iberdrola's assets.
Requirements
  • Qualification from a STEM background.
  • Experience in spot trading.
  • Working knowledge of trading systems and market data systems.
  • Proficiency in database queries such as SQL, Python.
  • Operational experience with SCADA systems.
  • Understanding of Australian energy market dynamics.
