Creative Sign Artist

The role of a Sign Writer Apprentice involves designing, creating and installing signs and other graphics for various facilities, vehicles and road work signs. This position requires a creative and motivated individual who has an interest in design, craftsmanship and the art of signage.
The ideal candidate will have completed Year 10 School Certificate or Record of School Achievement (ROSA) and hold a White Card (Construction Induction Card) or be able to obtain it prior to commencement. A Current NSW Class C Drivers Licence is also required, which can be obtained prior to commencement.
This apprenticeship is part of the Certificate III in Signs & Graphics, delivered through a combination of on-the-job training and formal study over a 48-month period. The course will provide the skills and knowledge to become a qualified sign writer and pursue a successful career in the industry.
As a Sign Writer Apprentice, you will participate actively in your course, make satisfactory progress through the course and successfully complete all assessment tasks and other course requirements within allocated timeframes.
You will also design and create signs and graphics using computerised sign manufacturing systems in accordance with appropriate building codes, Australian Standards and Council specifications.
In addition, you will undertake signage, line marking and cleaning requirements including traditional hand painted, computerised, digitally printed graphics to enhance the image of Council's assets.
You will coordinate the removal of graffiti from Council assets and buildings to contribute to the positive presentation and image of Council property.
A strong manual skills and passion for working with hands are essential, as well as the ability to work safely with materials and tools, following safety protocols and guidelines.
Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions and work well in a team environment are also important.
A reliable work ethic with a positive attitude and eagerness to learn new techniques, and a creative flair with the ability to adapt to different styles of signage, are highly valued.
