Senior Kernel Software Developer
Our company is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems to the global enterprise and technology markets. Our platform, Ubuntu, is widely used in various initiatives such as public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT.
We are a pioneer of global distributed collaboration, with 1200+ colleagues in 75+ countries and very few office-based roles. Teams meet two to four times yearly in person, in interesting locations around the world, to align on strategy and execution.
We select candidates who are recent university graduates or early career professionals who are enthusiastic about developing kernel-level software in multiple areas including security updates, patching, and testing.
This role involves collaborating regularly and proactively with a globally distributed team, learning from senior mentors to understand the inner workings of the Linux kernel and its distribution, working closely with external silicon, cloud, or hardware manufacturer delivery teams on bleeding-edge platforms, diagnosing and resolving issues in the kernel reported by customers, the community, and discovered through rigorous testing, taking personal responsibility for delivering various flavors of the Ubuntu Linux kernel, improving tooling and automation for delivery and test of Ubuntu Linux kernels, and submitting, reviewing, and applying kernel patches, working with both internal and external upstream maintainers.
As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on complex projects, develop your skills, and contribute to the growth and success of our organization.
You will be part of a dynamic and collaborative environment, where you will have the chance to learn from experienced professionals, share your ideas, and grow both personally and professionally.
