Key Responsibilities:

As part of the CAI Data Centre / Building Commissioning team, Mechanical Commissioning Engineers will oversee the commissioning of essential mechanical systems, including start-up and testing, while also formulating maintenance strategies. These professionals will design and implement commissioning tests to validate that vendor equipment is properly installed and operational, assist in design evaluations, and provide guidance on LEED / Green Star qualification submissions.

Specific duties include:

  1. Creating test scripts for mechanical systems and equipment
  2. Actively participating in customer equipment Factory Witness Tests (FWT) and Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT)
  3. Coordinating and managing vendor relationships
  4. Conducting inspections to verify compliance with vendor specifications
  5. Documenting tests to confirm that equipment is installed and functioning correctly
  6. Reviewing design specifications, manufacturer submissions, schematic drawings, and project timelines
  7. Ensuring quality assurance and quality control during mechanical installations and start-ups
  8. Delegating commissioning tasks to the mechanical commissioning team
  9. Executing test scripts to validate system operations against design criteria
  10. Promoting safe work practices on-site
  11. Engaging with clients to ensure satisfaction and adherence to project timelines
  12. Providing daily updates on the status of the mechanical commissioning team
  13. Conducting facility inspections, turnover processes, and punch list evaluations
  14. Understanding LEED / Green Star standards and requirements

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience
  2. A minimum of 2 years in commissioning and qualification within a regulated environment, or in facility engineering/management
  3. Experience in one or more of the following areas:
    1. Data center construction and commissioning
    2. Mission-critical construction and commissioning
    3. Building commissioning
    4. Mechanical equipment start-up and troubleshooting
    5. HVAC systems
    6. Fluid and hydraulic systems
    7. Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing (TAB)
    8. Factory Witness Testing
    9. Mechanical commissioning methodologies
    10. Equipment and facility handover processes
  4. Experience in Data Centre operations is a plus
  5. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  6. Proficiency in MS Project
  7. Willingness to travel internationally as needed, subject to travel regulations
