Role Overview

The Aboriginal Family Wellbeing Coordinator and Violence Prevention Program promotes wellbeing through prevention and responses to family violence in Aboriginal communities.

This role is a partnership with Aboriginal communities and local services to provide holistic, culturally safe, trauma informed responses to victims, children, young people, and people who use violence.

This position aligns with Section 14 (d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 – only suitably qualified Aboriginal people are eligible for this position and are encouraged to apply.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • To collaborate with community partners to develop and implement culturally safe programs and services that address family violence and improve wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal families.
  • To work closely with Aboriginal communities to identify and respond to their needs related to family violence and wellbeing.
  • To contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures that promote cultural safety and improve outcomes for Aboriginal families.
  • To assist in the identification and reporting of child abuse and neglect and other forms of harm.
