About the Role

The Philanthropy and Funding Coordinator will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing best practice philanthropy and funding strategies to support our organization's mission. This involves identifying, cultivating, and stewarding relationships with prospective and current philanthropic trusts and foundations, as well as government funders.

This role requires:

  • Providing advice and support to secure philanthropic income from trusts and foundations and government.
  • Identifying and researching prospective funders, engaging with relevant staff to gauge their interest in our organization.
  • Implementing relationship management strategies with a focus on cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Planning, developing, and submitting tailored funding proposals that align with our priorities.
  • Collaborating with staff to leverage funding opportunities across sectors.

Key Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Demonstrated experience in building external relationships to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Experience in managing relationships with philanthropic and government funders.
  • Effective communication skills, including influencing and negotiation.
  • Understanding of the political, legal, and policy context of philanthropy and government.
  • Able to work collaboratively and independently, managing multiple tasks and responding efficiently to requests.
