About the Role
The Deputy Director, Explosives Personnel Policy is responsible for the strategic oversight and management of all learning and development initiatives within Defence, specifically relating to explosives safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, development, and execution of comprehensive learning and development programs tailored to the needs of personnel handling explosives.
- Ensure that all learning materials and programs meet and exceed regulatory standards and effectively enhance the competence and safety awareness of all personnel involved with explosives.
- Develop and maintain the knowledge necessary to inform the management of critical explosives safety risks within the Defence Enterprise.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to integrate the Explosives Safety Regulatory Framework (ESRF) with and support Defence work health and safety policy and other related Defence regulatory systems.

The Directorate of Ordnance Safety (DOS) administers the ESRF for Defence, providing exciting opportunities to build upon your existing engineering and chemistry experience, developing specialist explosives and engineering skillsets, and advising innovative and novel Defence projects.

Requirements
- Knowledge and experience in guided weapon and explosive ordnance learning and development.
- Ability to lead, mentor, and develop a learning and development team to enhance their skills and effectiveness in delivering high-quality educational content.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence outcomes and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
- Proficiency in the use of a wide range of tools to aid in carrying out work, including Microsoft Office tools, modelling applications, and other IT systems.
