Financial Accountant Job

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join our team. As a Financial Accountant at Defence Housing Australia, you will play a key role in the preparation of General Purpose Financial statements for DHA, ensuring data integrity and liaising with external and internal auditors.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and possess excellent communication and problem-solving abilities. You will also provide monthly balance sheet reconciliations and supporting workpapers in relation to asset accounts, undertake the capitalisation of assets acquired by DHA, and administer DHA's annual impairment process.

About This Role:
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including general purpose financial statements
  • Review and ensure data integrity of financial transactions and journal entries
  • Liaise with external and internal auditors to address audit queries and recommendations
  • Recommend procedural changes to improve business processes and efficiency
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the development and delivery of monthly financial reports
  • Review financial transactions, prepare financial journals, and month-end reconciliations to ensure data accuracy
  • Preparation of general-purpose financial statements for DHA
  • Liaison with external and internal auditors
  • Recommend procedural changes to enhance business processes
