About Our Program
">The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner Program is designed to empower participants to reach their full potential. We offer a unique opportunity for supported on-the-job training, localized education, and meaningful employment within Metro South Health and Children's Health Queensland.
">The program has been named in commemoration of the current Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioners. This language name translates to 'Our Rock Our Power'.
">We have partnered with the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) as the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) to deliver the vocational qualifications associated with the program. Participants will receive full-time employment, tailored education plans, suitable rostering to support engagement with program education, and wrap-around, culturally safe support throughout their academic journey.
">About the Role
">Metro South Health and Children's Health Queensland are committed to growing the First Nations health workforce and value the role and contribution of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner.
">The Trainee Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner (Identified) will provide support and assistance to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander consumers under supervision, delivering flexible, accessible, and holistic care that incorporates a multidisciplinary approach to meet individual consumer, family, and community needs.
">The trainee will actively participate in on-the-job training requirements to successfully complete nationally recognized qualifications associated with the program. This offers an exciting opportunity to gain exposure across various clinical environments.
">Requirements
">To be successful in this role, you must identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and either be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent or accepted by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community in which you live.
