The Advanced Health Worker role plays a vital part in the healthcare system, focusing on delivering culturally responsive care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities affected by substance use and mental health challenges.
This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. As an Advanced Health Worker, you will join a dedicated team working within a multidisciplinary framework, providing comprehensive primary healthcare services tailored to the cultural and clinical needs of clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Culturally Safe Care: Delivering effective clinical care to the Metro South Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, addressing drug and alcohol challenges.
- Health Education and Support: Providing guidance and support to both clients and health professionals, enhancing their understanding of mental health and substance use.
- Care Coordination: Engaging effectively with individuals and families to ensure continuity of care and support their navigation through the health system.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will need strong communication skills, the ability to build trustful relationships, and experience working within multidisciplinary teams focused on mental health and substance use care. Cultural knowledge and the capacity to provide culturally safe care that aligns with the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards are also essential.
Requirements:
- Cultural Competence: Demonstrating cultural respect and knowledge to deliver culturally safe care.
- Mental Health Experience: Working experience or a strong commitment to working within mental health and substance use care settings.
- Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to build trustful relationships with clients, families, and health professionals.
