Job Title: Procurement Specialist

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry is seeking a highly motivated professional to join the Commercial Services Team as a Procurement Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for managing public sector procurements and commercial management functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage procurement planning, tendering, contract formation, and contract management activities.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, procurement policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Undertake research and analysis to prepare discussion papers, risk assessment plans, contract management plans, and reports.
  • Represent and negotiate on behalf of the Department at commercial meetings and briefings.
  • Support and promote a customer-focused, respectful, and supportive workplace culture.
  • Plan workloads and coordinate to effectively deliver projects that achieve outcomes.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership skills and ability to deliver team objectives.
  • Highly effective communication and negotiation skills, including writing skills.
  • A strong working knowledge of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability (PGPA) Act, and broader Commonwealth Procurement Rules and policies.
  • Experience in complex commercial contract management and procurement.
