Job Title

We are seeking a skilled Social Worker to join our team at The Royal Women's Hospital. As a Casual Abortion and Contraception Counsellor/Social Worker, you will provide clinical services to patients attending the hospital for abortion services, including intake service, psychosocial assessment, pregnancy decision making support, and post-abortion counselling.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate Social Worker to work in a dynamic environment providing high-quality care to women and pregnant people. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing clinical services to women and pregnant people attending the hospital for abortion services
  • Involve patients in the decision-making process of treatment goals, admission, and discharge planning
  • Work closely with the multidisciplinary team and community support services involved in patient care
  • Possess a high-level theoretical understanding and intersectional approach to working with victim/survivors of family violence, reproductive coercion, abuse, and sexual assault
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following requirements:

  • Eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to provide clinical services to women and pregnant people attending the hospital for abortion services
  • Demonstrated knowledge in psychosocial assessment, pregnancy decision making support, crisis counselling, post-abortion counselling, bereavement care, advocacy, community liaison, referral, and discharge
