Windows Server and VMware Infrastructure Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled System Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our IT infrastructure team, you will be responsible for managing and supporting our Windows servers, VMware virtualization, and Active Directory (AD) environment.

• Server Management: Install, configure, and maintain Windows servers for optimal performance, ensuring they meet compliance standards and best practices.
• Patching and Updates: Apply patches, updates, and security fixes to Windows OS using SCCM, ensuring the integrity and security of our systems.
• Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitor and troubleshoot server performance and availability issues, resolving them in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
• Security Policies: Configure security policies, including group policies, firewall settings, and anti-malware solutions, to protect our systems from threats.
• Compliance: Ensure Windows servers meet CIS best practices and other relevant standards, maintaining the highest level of security and compliance.
• VMware Management: Deploy, configure, and manage VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts and vCenter, optimizing performance and resource utilization.
• Virtual Machine Management: Create, configure, and manage virtual machines (VMs) and templates, ensuring they meet business requirements and are properly maintained.
• Performance Monitoring: Monitor the health and performance of the VMware environment and VMs, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed.
• Tuning and Optimization: Tune VMs and VMware settings for optimal performance and resource utilization, minimizing waste and maximizing efficiency.
• Disaster Recovery: Configure VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) or other tools for disaster recovery and experience in performing DR using SRM, ensuring business continuity.
• Resource Planning: Monitor and forecast resource usage to plan for expansion, ensuring we have the necessary resources to support business growth.
• Capacity and Health Monitoring: Use VMware tools like VMware Aria Operations to monitor capacity and health, making data-driven decisions to optimize our environment.
• Hardware and Virtual Network/Storage Issues: Diagnose and resolve hardware and virtual network/storage issues in VMware environments, minimizing downtime and ensuring high system availability.
• VM Migration, Snapshot, and Backup Support: Support and troubleshoot issues related to VM migrations, snapshots, and backups, ensuring seamless operation of our systems.
• Domain, Trust, and Forest Management: Create, configure, and manage domains, trusts, and forests as needed, ensuring secure and efficient communication between systems.
• Active Directory Implementation and Management: Implement and manage sites and replication to optimize AD performance, ensuring timely access to resources and information.
• User Account, Group Membership, and Permission Management: Manage user accounts, group memberships, and permissions, maintaining least-privilege access and following best practices.
• Group Policy Configuration and Maintenance: Configure and maintain Group Policies for user and computer settings across the domain, enforcing security settings and application restrictions.
• GPO Implementation for Security Settings, Application Restrictions, and User Experience: Implement GPOs for security settings, application restrictions, and user experience, ensuring a secure and productive environment.
• Active Directory Backup and Recovery Plan: Maintain a backup and recovery plan for AD, including testing restore scenarios, ensuring business continuity in case of an outage.
• Automation of Routine Tasks: Use PowerShell, vSphere CLI, or other tools to automate routine tasks in Windows, VMware, and AD environments, increasing efficiency and reducing errors.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain documentation of configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps, preparing capacity and utilization reports for management.
• Level 2/3 Support: Provide level 2/level-3 support for escalated issues related to Windows, VMware, and AD, collaborating with internal teams to resolve complex problems.
