Addiction Treatment Specialist

The Intake and Assessment Clinician plays a pivotal role within the drug health services, serving as the first point of contact for clients seeking Alcohol and Other Drug Services. This position involves providing an intake function to Residential Alcohol and Other Drug Programs and conducting comprehensive AOD assessments for treatment planning, referrals, and linkages into Community AOD Services.
Main Responsibilities:- Receiving and managing external and internal AOD stakeholder referrals for all programs.
- Undertaking thorough AOD assessments and developing clinically appropriate treatment plans with clear discharge plans.
- Waitlist management for all residential inpatient units.
- Contribute to skilled case coordination services as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Effectively dealing with crisis situations, assessing individuals at risk, and responding appropriately and safely.
This role requires excellent assessment, treatment planning, and clinical presentation skills, as well as strong communication and interpersonal abilities. The ideal candidate will possess qualifications in social work, nursing, psychology, or other relevant health disciplines, and have experience working with substance-affected individuals.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to manage competing priorities within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong understanding of Harm Minimisation, Relapse Prevention, Overdose Prevention, and other evidence-based interventions.
- Current Employee status Working with Children Check.
