Our organisation's core focus is on empowering First Nations children and families. As a Support Practitioner, you will play a pivotal role in delivering culturally safe and inclusive care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver case management and tailored support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people, and families.
  • Forge strong community partnerships with agencies, carers, and families to establish sustainable support networks.
  • Implement culturally inclusive programs that promote healing, resilience, and well-being.
Essential Requirements
  • Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander heritage (a genuine occupational requirement under Section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991).
  • A degree qualification in social work, psychology, social science, or a related discipline (or equivalent level of expertise with more than 4 years' experience attained through previous appointments, service, and/or study, with a minimum Certificate III in Community Services).
  • Applied knowledge and understanding of child protection and out-of-home care frameworks, including knowledge of the Child Protection Act 1999.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete assessments for care and deep understanding of contemporary challenges faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Experience in child protection, community services, or supporting vulnerable children and families.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work sensitively with diverse communities.
