Job Description

The Legal Counsel role offers a unique opportunity to work autonomously in an in-house, high-performing legal team. As a key member of the organisation's legal department, you will provide practical, timely, and accessible legal advice to support business growth and development.

About the Role
  • You will work closely with other business specialists in Governance, Risk, and Assurance to drive strategic initiatives and mitigate risks.
  • Support officer empowerment and development through training and resource production on legislative and compliance issues.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert legal advice on matters across governance, contracts, property, procurement, and local government law.
  • Manage external Legal Services Panel, including coordination of legal advice and preparation of briefs.
  • Identify and brief Executive Officers and/or the CEO on strategic legal issues and risks.
About You
  • Minimum 3 years' post-qualification experience as a solicitor or barrister.
  • Strong technical operator with ability to quickly build rapport across a large stakeholder base.
  • Demonstrated capacity in efficiently managing matters and own workload and workflow.
Requirements
  • Admitted as a solicitor or barrister of the Supreme Court of an Australian State or Territory.
  • Hold, or be eligible to hold, a current practising certificate.
