Network Security Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Network Security Specialist to join our organization in Sydney. As a key member of our technology leadership team, you will develop and maintain technology strategies that align with business goals and security requirements.

In this role, you will design secure network infrastructures, identify and mitigate risks, and enforce security policies and standards. You will collaborate with stakeholders across IT and business units to ensure alignment on security initiatives, optimize system performance, and evaluate emerging technologies to strengthen security.

Your clear communication of risks and solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences is crucial to your success in this role.
You will be responsible for:

  • Developing and maintaining an enterprise-wide technology strategy that aligns with business objectives and supports security needs.
  • Designing and implementing secure network infrastructure, including hardware, software, and network systems.
  • Identifying and mitigating potential security vulnerabilities through risk assessments, penetration testing, and other security measures.
  • Developing and enforcing security policies, standards, and procedures in compliance with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborating with various stakeholders (IT, business units, senior leadership) to ensure alignment and buy-in for security initiatives.
  • Monitoring and improving the performance of technology systems, ensuring they meet security requirements and business needs.
  • Researching and evaluating new technologies and solutions to enhance security capabilities and reduce risks.
  • Communicating effectively with technical and non-technical audiences to explain security risks, solutions, and best practices.

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • A strong understanding of networking, security, and IT infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for network and security architecture.
  • Experience with security tools and technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and VPNs.
  • The ability to analyze complex business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with cloud computing, integration practices, and commercial software applications.
  • Relevant certifications, such as CISSP, CISM, or CCIE.
