Role Overview

We are seeking an accomplished Software Support Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team in Linux-based infrastructure and applications. This role involves resolving complex customer problems related to Ubuntu, Kernel, Ceph, OpenStack, or Kubernetes and other open source software.

  • This includes troubleshooting and driving issues to resolution with workarounds, guidance, and bug fixes to be released upstream and in Ubuntu.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong academic background, preferably in Computer Science, STEM, or similar. They should have experience with Linux and open source software, as well as at least one of Python, Go, C, or C++ on Linux.

A key aspect of this role is the ability to drive technology deep-dive initiatives and participate in upstream communities to develop bug fixes and backport patches.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about technology, has excellent communication skills, and can collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Resolve complex customer problems related to Ubuntu, Kernel, Ceph, OpenStack, or Kubernetes and other open source software.
  • Develop bug fixes and backport patches through participation in upstream communities.
  • Troubleshoot and drive issues to resolution with workarounds, guidance, and bug fixes to be released upstream and in Ubuntu.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve processes, tools, and documentation.

Requirements

  • Strong academic background in Computer Science, STEM, or similar.
  • Experience with Linux and open source software.
  • Experience with at least one of Python, Go, C, or C++ on Linux.
  • Possess exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
