We continue to experience ongoing growth and now have over 4,000 dedicated employees. We foster a learning culture that allows for us to continually invest in our employees ensuring a long-term career here at EML.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As part of our diverse team based in Sydney, you will help make a positive impact on someone's life every day. You will feel great satisfaction knowing your talent and hard work has a purpose.

Are you a Clinical Psychologist eager to grow your skills in a new setting? If so, this unique and innovative role within the corporate world is perfect for you. Step into a challenging, dynamic setting where you can apply your clinical skills to assist workers in need. You'll need to be agile as you shift between the roles of clinician, advisor and educator, realising your full potential across a diverse skillset when no two days look the same. If the routine of clinical work is beginning to feel stale, this is the challenge for you. Working regular business hours in a salaried position with paid leave, you can find the stability and lifestyle that clinical work often lacks.

As a Clinical Advisor – Psychologist, you will be involved in early management of workplace psychological injuries as well as enhancing the medical management of psychological and physical claims. You'll provide expert clinical advice and support to the claims teams whilst working alongside Doctors, Physiotherapists and other health professionals. The goal of the position is to assist the group in providing and ensuring timely and effective medical management of workers' claims, facilitating their recovery and return to work in line with regulatory requirements while minimising associated costs and risks. The role combines clinical and advisory work to improve decision-making, facilitate timely return to work, optimise treatment plans, enhance the customer experience for injured workers and increase the capability of the claims team.

This will be a permanent, full time role based in our Sydney office, with flexibility to work from home 2 days per week (full time is preferred but 0.8FTE will be considered).

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide early intervention and management of workplace psychological injuries.
  • Conduct peer-to-peer discussions with Clinical Psychologists and GPs early in the claims process to optimise clinical management and improve RTW (Return-to-Work) outcomes.
  • Conduct file reviews and provide clinical opinion on the medical strategy: review medical records, specialist reports, and other relevant information to assess the diagnosis, prognosis, treatment and RTW plan.
  • Negotiate with Clinical Psychologists and GPs regarding medical management and frequency of treatment as well as upgrades in capacity for injured workers.
  • Provide group wide training and individual coaching to case managers on clinical management of psychological injuries and communication with health professionals to support optimal medical management and support capability uplift.

ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., psychology)
  • Demonstrated 5+ years experience in practice as a registered Clinical Psychologist
  • Current registration in professional field (can be non-practicing)
  • Comprehensive understanding of the insurance industry, ideally with demonstrated experience with workers compensation insurance.
  • Well established knowledge of disability and psychological injury management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
