About Vocational Support Services

The primary goal of vocational support is to enable prisoners to gain skills and qualifications that can be used upon release from prison, thereby enhancing their employability and reducing recidivism rates.

Our vocational programs provide prisoners with the opportunity to develop practical skills in various industries, including construction, laundry, and maintenance. This enables them to achieve their educational and vocational goals while in custody.

As a vocational support officer, you will facilitate the delivery of vocational programs and services to prisoners. Your role will involve providing on-the-job instruction and supervision to prisoners, assisting them in achieving their educational and vocational goals, and maintaining accurate records of prisoner progress and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the delivery of vocational programs and services to prisoners
  • Provide on-the-job instruction and supervision to prisoners
  • Assist prisoners in achieving their educational and vocational goals
  • Maintain accurate records of prisoner progress and outcomes

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Laundry Officer: completion of Chemical Handling Skill Set or willingness to undertake and complete
  • Industrial Relief Instructor: Construction Industry White Card and Certificate III in cabinet making/furniture making/engineering
  • Construction and Maintenance Supervisor: Construction Industry White Card and Certificate III in a construction trade/building and construction/building maintenance/appliance service
