Job Description

This is a leadership role that focuses on the coordination and integration of early intervention and suicide prevention activities across regional stakeholders and service providers.

The successful candidate will take primary responsibility for coordinating and integrating early intervention and suicide prevention activities, with a focus on improving mental health outcomes in the region.

The role involves engaging with government departments to coordinate the development and integration of activity identified in national agreements at a local jurisdictional level.

The Regional Suicide Prevention Lead will also oversee the implementation of a Regional Suicide Prevention Action Plan, facilitate a multistakeholder suicide prevention group, and identify and support the commissioning of lived experience and/or peer support and mentorship programs.

The position requires strong project management skills, including the ability to build relationships and supportive partnerships with community leaders and other stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in stakeholder engagement, project management, and monitoring the implementation of supports and services.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Proven track record in stakeholder engagement, ongoing coordination, and relationship building.
  • Project management experience in a health or wellbeing-related project/program.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in local suicide prevention activities, collaboratives, and working groups.
  • Understanding of the suicide prevention sector, including the nature of mental health and suicide prevention service delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience monitoring implementation of supports and services.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
