About the role:

We are seeking a dedicated professional to provide outreach counselling and mental health support to farmers, their families, and rural communities in Port Lincoln and the Eyre and Far North region.

Key responsibilities:

  • ">
  • Deliver brief, trauma-informed interventions to individuals and families experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges related to drought">
  • Provide crisis support to individuals in acute distress, including those at risk of self-harm or suicide, and facilitate referrals to emergency services when necessary">
  • Engage with local leaders, community groups, and collaborate with stakeholders to understand community needs and priorities">
  • Facilitate group sessions focused on stress management, resilience, and peer support tailored to rural community needs">
  • Collaborate with local service providers to coordinate holistic care and strengthen referral pathways">

Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will require:

Qualifications and experience:

">
  • ">
  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Peer Work, Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field">
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering mental health support in rural or agricultural settings is highly desirable">
  • Strong knowledge of trauma-informed practices, mental health recovery, and care coordination">
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Community Services sector and ability to build strong relationships with service providers, clinical teams, and key stakeholders">
  • Ability to work independently across a regional area, unrestricted driver's licence, and own vehicle required">
