Long Tail Claims Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Long Tail Claims Specialist to manage workers' compensation claims beyond 78 weeks. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and reasoning skills, with the ability to plan and organize work effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Entitlement Review: Assess medical reports, rehabilitation progress, and vocational assessments to determine capacity to return to work beyond 78 weeks.
  • Communication and Customer Service: Serve as main point of contact for injured workers, employers, and healthcare providers. Communicate clearly and empathetically to inform claim status, treatment plans, and return-to-work expectations.
  • Treatment Coordination: Work with healthcare providers to ensure appropriate medical treatment. Approve treatment plans, schedule appointments, monitor progress to facilitate recovery.
  • Payment Processing: Process payments for medical treatment, disability benefits, and other claim-related expenses; ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Case Conferences and Reviews: Participate in case conferences with stakeholders to evaluate progress and make informed decisions about the claim.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate records; ensure regulatory and company policy compliance to protect all parties involved.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills
  • Ability to plan and organize work effectively to manage timeframes and priorities
  • Experience working concurrently across multiple technology platforms
  • High level of organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a team in an office-based environment
  • Exceptional customer service skills with a focus on delivering high-quality outcomes
  • Sensitivity to issues related to people with medical, cultural, and social needs
  • Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency required
